Random Musings:
Childhood memory – Elvis was one of the first music artists that I remember as a young child. I was aware of him by the age of 4. I actually remember the day he died and how sad my mom was. Elvis was her favorite. My mom and Dad had the chance to see Elvis in concert in Denver Colorado in the 1970’s. So needless to say I raised on Elvis’ music as kid, not bad place to start. I continued to listen to him as I got a little older, and Suspicious Minds was always a stand out track for me. This one’s for you mom!
Where’s Johnny? – I didn’t include Johnny Cash’s live album, At San Quentin on my Album Rewind entry, even though it was released in June of 1969. I’m going to try and stay away from live albums and greatest hits as much as possible on this site. On top of that, I did include his other live classic, At Folsom Prison in my May 1968 blog. I did want to acknowledge this great album though, and yes it would rank higher than a couple other albums for this month…
Please help me understand – I did like Captain Beefheart’s album, Safe as Milk. Actually I like that album quite a bit. Trout Mask Replica, not so much. It’s just so difficult for me to listen to. I honestly don’t enjoy it much at all. I do consider myself to many different types and styles of music. I consider my taste pretty eclectic. Trout Mask Replica just doesn’t do it for me. If anyone has a strong opinion on why they like this album, I will certainly be open to listen. I would have put this in the D Tier, but put it in the C Tier because of it’s high ranking in the top albums of all-time.
