Random Musings:
Debut – January 1969 would see the release of the debut albums from two major artists, Neil Young and Led Zeppelin. Neil Young’s debut is good but not great. But he will have many great albums to come. Zeppelin on the other hand starts their career out strong with the release of their debut. Those first few notes of “Good Times, Bad Times” let the listener know that this band is not messing around and that a new heavier sound has arrived.
Note that Neil Young’s debut album was originally released in 1968, remixed and then re-released in January 1969.
So many albums – CCR release their album Bayou Country in January 1969. This is their first of three albums released in 1969! That’s unfathomable in this day and age when most artists take years between albums. What is even crazier is that CCR released 6 albums in their first 2 years. All of those classic CCR songs that we all know in love were written and recorded within a couple of years. How did they do that?!
The Boz – I’ll admit, I don’t know much about Boz Scaggs besides his 70’s hits, “Lowdown” and “Lido Shuffle”. I had know idea to expect from his album, simply called Boz Scaggs. Not a bad album and I was surprised to hear how soulful the album is.
