Tier ranking of my top 5 albums of December 1967
S Tier: Jimi Hendrix – Axis Bold as Love (rock, blues rock)
A Tier: Leonard Cohen – Songs of Leonard Cohen (contemporary folk) ///// Bob Dylan – John Wesley Harding (folk rock)
B Tier: The Who – The Who Sell Out (rock) ///// Ennio Morricone – The Good, The Bad and The Ugly Soundtrack (soundtrack – western)
C Tier: None
Notable albums that didn’t make my top 5: The Rolling Stones – Their Satanic Majesties Request /// The Beach Boys – Wild Honey /// Traffic – Mr. Fantasy
A Different kind of Pick of the Month: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly Soundtrack. This is kind of by default as I was a little disappointed with other albums from this month (The Rolling Stones, Beach Boys, Traffic). It does makes for a unique and unusual pick, but I love it!
A bit overrated: The Who – The Who Sell Out. I like the Who, but their best stuff is still to come. Their are some good tracks on here but a lot of filler in my opinion.
Did you know: The legendary heavy metal band, Judas Priest, took their name from the Bob Dylan song “The Ballad of Frankie Lee and Judas Priest”
