Nina Simone dedicated her performance at the Westbury Music Fair to the late Martin Luther King Jr. The rock musical “Hair” debuts on Broadway. Simon and Garfunkel release the album Bookends which goes #1 in both the UK and US.

Movie Scene: Mrs. Robinson by Simon & Garfunkel has been featured in a few movies and TV shows, but every time I hear the song I think of the scene from “Once Upon a time in Hollywood” with Brad Pitt’s character giving a nod and smile to one Charles Manson’s followers passing by on the street.
Jazz, Blues and Soul – Since I began this blog I’ve discovered a lot of new artists, albums and songs. One thing that has surprised me a little bit is that on the albums I don’t know or know very little about, I tend to prefer jazz, blues and soul albums over rock, pop and folk. I come from more of a rock background, but the older I get I seem to be gravitating towards jazz, blues and soul artists.
