Random Musings:
Astral Weeks – There is no other album like Astral Weeks. I guess it could best be described as Folk-Jazz or Acoustic-Jazz. It really doesn’t have and doesn’t need a label. It’s an album without any hit songs and isn’t an album for everyone as it’s a bit of an acquired taste. The album takes you on a journey, starting with the title track. “Sweet Thing” is the best known song on the album, but the title track, “Astral Weeks” is my favorite song on the album. “Astral Weeks”, like all the other songs on the album, are for you to put your own meaning to. I can’t recommend this album enough.
The “White Album”– My brother Darren had a cassette of the White Album and I remember listening to the album for the first time at our old lake cabin. What a great memory! “Back in the USSR”, “Birthday” and “Helter Skelter” were the first songs that really jumped out to me, but as time has gone on I’ve come to really appreciate the lesser known songs. The White Album has a wide variety of songs on it, yet it still works as cohesive sound. An incredible album!
