Hendrix – I just need to take a moment and recognize the amazing Jimi Hendrix. I can’t imagine what it must have been like to be around in the late 60’s and hearing Hendrix for the first time. When I was younger I knew that Jimi Hendrix was one of the best guitar players of all-time but it wasn’t until I was well into my adult years that I realized just how brilliant he really was. His songs are electric and eclectic. A mix of rock, soul, blues and psychedelic. And that backing band of his, Noel Redding on bass and the incredible Mitch Mitchell on drums. I’m not telling you anything you don’t already know about Jimi Hendrix but I just felt the need to show my appreciation of this music god!
What the?! – I have listened to a lot of strange and unique albums since I started this music blog. Maybe the strangest of all, so far at least, is “The Amazing New Electronic Pop Sound of Jean-Jacques Perrey” by Jean-Jacques Perrey. To my years it’s just a bunch of electronic boops and beeps, but I’m sure some music critics out there would find this album fascinating.
