What a Month! – The month of May 1969 has 4 of the top 500 albums of all-time. The one album that isn’t in the top 500 is Joni Mitchell’s Clouds, which I will discuss below. Anytime you have The Who, Neil Young, Sly & The Family Stone, Crosby, Stills & Nash and Joni Mitchell releasing albums in the same month, you know it’s going to be good! There is a lot of variety here as well, from a rock opera, to soul and funk, country rock and folk.
Joni – It took me just two listens to know that Joni Mitchell’s Clouds is a must listen to album. I’m starting to feel like a broken record, but I went into this album not knowing any songs. I was listening to it on a rainy summer afternoon day, and it fit the mood perfectly. This album has such a great mix of beautiful and haunting. This will be another album I will be coming back to often.
